I finally have the German Blue Rams I've been blabbing about for a month or so.

4 German Blue Rams !!! Wahoo !
A male and three females, awesome colors, domestic bred.
The male is larger then the rest and they are all quite nice and active. Can you tell I'm excited ??

I acclimated them for an hour, then waited 20 min and fed their first meal, some flakes plus bloodworms.. They ate well ! I think the plants helped them feel at home..

The tankmates: platys and guppys for dithers...
7 amano shrimp
2 BN plecos..

There's only 2 fish I'd possibly want to add now.. A pair of discus if that's feasible, or some zebra otos..

It's quite interesting to watch these cichlids interact with each other and the other fish..

I watched them for a couple hours earlier and fell asleep for a nap LOL.. Nice to be able to do that though.
Sorry for blabbin, just happy I finally got them and so far so good

It's funny, I used to keep cichlids like oscars, green terrors, and it was always interesting to observe them.. Then a year or so ago, bought a pair of kribs.. Which unfortunately didn't live long.. But enough to sink into my head that SA dwarf cichlids were nice to have.

Now have a breeding quartet of rams in my living room tank and a pair of apisto agassizi in the 10 gal in my bedroom.
At the moment as a fishkeeper, life is GOOD !

Rams and discus play well together. I consider my rams to be part of my clean-up crew in my 125G discus tank. My only caution on discus will be that you should have at least 5 discus to minimize aggression. Adult discus need a minimum of 10G per fish.

Jackieblak,
I can see why they're your fave fish. These fish are very interesting to observe..

Tetra Fan,
Good luck when you get rams as well ! Yes I was quite excited, the owner of them was supposed to get them to me a month or so ago, but got caught up condo hunting and had family visiting etc.. Instead of being impatient (I was counting the minutes anyways LOL), I used that time to swap my 29 for a 40 and re-did the whole setup..
The rams seem pretty at home already, with alot of 'cave visitation' going on. Alot of work went into this tank and already I feel rewarded

Bob W, funny you mentioned discus.. I was thinking of a discus pair also.. But, my tank is only 40 gal.. I'll have guppys, platys and hopefully rams breeding in there, and apistos in my 10 gal.. Maybe adding discus will be too much in my 40 ? And if only a pair, too much aggression ?
Should I just keep it simple for now ?

Rams are quite beautiful, i have 1 in my tank & hopefully will be adding some more, when i find them. You can add a pair of Discus, but you might have to take some Guppy's & Platies in another tank.

Jason you will love their behaviour and color even more once there's a pair. I'm going to hold off on Discus plans for the moment to hopefully increase rams chances of breeding as the more other fish around the more chances they will eat their own eggs..
