My oscar had gotten injured and the catfish would pick at the wound, so we seperated them and treated her. We waited 2 more weeks after she healed and then put the catfish back in the tank. They ignored each other for a few more weeks. When I came home yesterday, there are layers of her skin missing in the same area where she was injured. It is like the catfish is eating her and she lets him!!!!! How much is she doing to let him do??? What should I do????????? I have seperated them again. I have no idea HELP

Oscar is 11 1/2 inches long.
Feather Fin Catfish about 6-7 inches.
50 gallon tank.
They are the only two in there. Chemical levels are good.

Thats one sissy of an Oscar! Letting a catfish pick on it. Have you watched the cat to see when it is most active? My Oscars normally sleep/rest at night. Maybe your cat has become or always was nocturnal, and now it has a taste for Oscar fish, is getting its fill. Another thought might be that the Oscar has still not recovered fully from it's injury.

Perhaps after all this time, they have just become bad tank mates. Maybe try re-arranging the entire tank, and re-difining territory, then putting both fish back in at the same time. Other than that, I'd be deciding which fish i liked better (in my case the Oscar!! ) and take the other to your LFS for a trade-in. Or you could use this as a great excuse to get another tank!!

It is very faintly possible that the Catfish is cleaning the wound of the Oscar.

I think you have two choices and that is get another tank or decide which one you want to keep.

Sorry to be so blunt but is one thing or the other.
