Sktchy Hobbyist Posts: 52 Kudos: 27 Votes: 3 Registered: 06-Feb-2007 | I realize this isn't a huge accomplishment, but it feels good! my Haplochromis obliquidens bred about three weeks ago, last time they did this, the female ended up getting to stressed and aborting the batch, but this time she carried them, since it has been three weeks, I decided it was a good day to strip her and I have about 45-50 little baby hap's swimming around my baby tank now! I'm happy, so very, very happy. proud father of a bunch of baby haps. http://picasaweb.google.com/Sktchy/BABIES |

Sktchy Hobbyist Posts: 52 Kudos: 27 Votes: 3 Registered: 06-Feb-2007 | I will try to get some pics up as soon as I can. just wondering, how big a tank should they be in to grow them out? I can probably move them back in with their parents when they get 1.5-2 in. but I don't know how long that'll take, and I can't imagine the 3.5 they're in will be good enough, it's just a tank I have set up for when my livebearers are ready to give birth... proud father of a bunch of baby haps. http://picasaweb.google.com/Sktchy/BABIES |

Sktchy Hobbyist Posts: 52 Kudos: 27 Votes: 3 Registered: 06-Feb-2007 | the babies are in a 20 gallon tank now to grow them out, they have a box filter in the tank, and a heater, I don't suppose they really need a light. they are probably around 3/8-1/2 in. now, and they all have their parents stripes, down to about 25 from the original 40-ish though, which is a shame, I suppose losses are to be expected. pictures are coming. proud father of a bunch of baby haps. http://picasaweb.google.com/Sktchy/BABIES |

I dealt with it of course, thankfully it shorted out before any electrocuting could be done! it would have been a shame to lose all those wonderful little babies to a dead heater! also, finally I have some pictures and a movie! http://picasaweb.google.com/Sktchy/BABIES proud father of a bunch of baby haps. http://picasaweb.google.com/Sktchy/BABIES |

I have my 1st successful batch of 11 krib fry (born Oct 06) and it has been a lot of fun. They are getting bigger now - although they are still not their adult size. Thanks for sharing the experience & photos. Cheers TW |
