hi guys,

i doubt anyone remembers but when i last posted over 2 months ago i was just starting my discus tank

now i have 5 discus. a red dragon, 2 blue diamond,a blu turq and a pigeon blood.

they are 3 of them are about 3 cm and the other to 5-6 ish

hopefully they'll pair off and be happy when they mature.

now i change the water 30% every 3 days i'm using a 1700CF aqua on cannister and a 2000 L/P internal filter

they are messy eaters, gravel cleaning every 3 days theres always uneated food in the gravel.

running my tank at 30C my point is. what bottom feeders would be alright in a tank with a hi-temp like that ?

they help eat the uneaten food wont they?

oh i already have 2 BN catfish. very shy though.

You can add a school of Corydoras for the left over food, but always remember to feed them some sinking pellets.

Stu,

What are you feeding the discus? I have found that bloodworms, mosquito larva, are usually cleaned up by the fish. Blackworms, an aquatic worm, are hunted down and sucked up. Beef heart, on the other hand, is nibbled at and often discarded. Unfortunately, uneaten beef heart is one of the worst things to have in your aquarium due to the residual fat in the meat. It quickly spoils at the elevated temps for discus.

If the waste food is flake or pellet, you may be overfeeding the fish or they may simply not like the taste. Try a light feeding of flake or pellet in the morning with a heavier feeding of bloodworms in the evening.

Corydoras will work well for clean-up as will apistogrammas and rams.
