whould these guys go togther? and how many could i keep in a 2*12*18 (i was thinking 4 and 4, is this too much?)

also any tips on keeping/breeding and on water parameters

is 7.8ph

In that sized tank I'd personally go with one species, probably the multies who would give you a nice colony. The punks will breed in shells, and I think you'd have agression issues by combining them in one tank.

Your water params sound fine. Multies don't really like much substrate, just lots and lots of shells. For the punks you'd want sand, somd rockwork, and shells.

I've found multies rather easy to breed

You could try 6, see how they pair up, and watch for agression since they're a bit larger than most shellies.

I have a tank this size, and I just filled it with Caudopunks. It's definitely too small for two species of shell-dwellers. You could probably add a few more for a total of 6 or so. I was also sad that a 2 foot tank is really too small for more than one species of cichlid. A 29 or 30 gallon tank might hold 2-3 species, but even then I wouldn't keep more than one shellie species unless I had a pretty huge tank.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...
