But they have been hiding behind the plants since i got them.. I have 20 neon tetra as ditherfish... Can it be my light? I have 2 whole new "Plant" lights in.. If it may be my light, how do I turn down the brightness, without my plants die? - Discus are not worth the money when you can't see them ![]() |

What are the PH and other levels in the tank. It could be the light is too bright but they will adapt after a while and the light will not bother them. Try providing big leaved plants where they can feel like they are shaded from the light this may entice them out into the open. Give me some more info and see if I can help further. Trace ![]() |

Discus are a bit shy, but the Neons will do the trick & you'll be able to see them. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

The parameters are all good, P.h. is 7,1 ( is that good? ) I have some amazone plants in there, and they are hiding under those atm. Yesterday, they were all 3 exploring the small area out of the plants shade, but when i got home from school, and tip-toed into my room to see them, but they freaked out and bashed right into the glass (looked very painfull ![]() Will it take weeks for them to settle? |

Some discus will take about a week to get used to their new environment. There is a real question about the ph level, and many will argue that any ph is fine. I am old school and believe that discus should be kept in water around the 6.8ph mark. That statment will spark off a few arguments but I believe the lower ph levels make their colour brighter and the fish seem happier, this of course is up to you as to what ph level you want to keep your guys in. I guess i'll just have to be patient( Always had a problem with that ![]() Thanks for the help ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by ThunderBolt at 11-Apr-2005 15:44 |
