You could do some of the smaller african ciichlids like electric yellows which are my personal favorites. They are aggressive and have really cool colors. |

oldfishnewfish Hobbyist Posts: 54 Kudos: 16 Votes: 1 Registered: 15-Jan-2009 | okay, but when i went to the petstore i say a tank with cichlids in it and the cichlids were only about 2" long... were they just really young or are they a different type of cichlid? but also i saw a couple cichlids that were about 5" long so i see your point on that.... |

If they're not that common, you can often request for fish to be ordered (big chains may not do this, but smaller stores often will). This has many benefits, first of all the store takes care of the cost of shipping (because they do it in bulk) and any DOA's, and also you are able to look at what you want to get before you get it. I have never ordered a fish online because it's simply much better and cheaper to get it through an LFS. But yeah, a 20 gallon won't fit more than two cichlids, and mind you many cichlids can still outgrow that tank size. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |
