Hi there,
almost any tropical plants will be fine at temps
with discus. Avoid Hornwort and duckweed, these seem to get wimpy in high temps.
I have had great luck with the following:
Giant Hygro
Swords
Cryptocornes
Ambulia
Wisteria
Vallisnerias
Lotus
Marimo Balls
Java Fern

Jimmy,

I think you have a couple of variables to consider with planted discus tanks. One is obviously the water temp with discus preferring water from 82F to 87F, the second will be light intensity and the third will be your substrate.

A good start in considering these factors are the articles at http://www.tropica.com/default.asp. Type "discus" into the search box and read part 1 and 2 of "Success with Planted Discus Aquaria".

I use cryptocoryne crispatula balansae as a background plant with c. wendtii brwon as mid ground and c. wendtii green as mid/foreground. Echinodorus rubin and e. bleheri perform well. Bacopa carolinia loves the set-up as does ceratopteris thalictroides. Pick a hygophila species and drop it in while sagittaria subulata has taken some time to root.

I have 384W of light over 125G and use EcoComplete as a substrate. Heavy root feeders receive fert tabs twice a week. I dose Flourish Excel and KNO3.
