![]() | The Rowdiest Cichlids? |
Phishwaters![]() Small Fry Posts: 10 Kudos: 6 Votes: 0 Registered: 18-May-2004 ![]() | I have a texas that killed a midas twice his size as well as a green severum 4x his size and a Blood parrot 3x his size. All in the space of a 12 hour shift at work. BP's and severum's are supposed to be peacefull in comparison to the Texas but the Midas is supposed to be one of the most aggresive Americans, so I think rowdiness is more of an individual fish thing than a species thing. BTW I've seen killer guppies. |

And Dovi hunt managuense in the wild but in a tank (that isn't more like a pond) i would have to say the Umbiefrom (spelling?) |

I know Fronts can be shy, it really depends on the enviroment. if the enviroment is perfect then the Fronts become more active and start to do more. |

No I have not forgotten about them. But they are not a cichlid, this thread was directed about cichlids, not Anabantids. And also, you need to be more specific about which snake head you are talking about. As there are a bunch. Those that I have kept and bred, would not hold a candle to most all cichlids, and especially to the Dovii. And, I used to have a Xingu I pike that almost killed a 4 foot red snake head at the lfs when I traded him in, lol. He was returned 5 times for killing other fish in the tanks of which people that bought him, and they were warned before purchase. So I guess, I have to also put the Xingu I, as well as all the other Xingu pikes, on the list as well. Last edited by acidrain at 14-Dec-2004 12:26 There is always a bigger fish... |

Just try mixing them in the same tank and see who survives, I have seen this too many times. IMO, the ruffest, toughest, meanest, FW fish kept in home aquariums out there, is the Dovii. Or as some know them, the wolf cichlid. There is always a bigger fish... |

I also have two 10 inch tiger oscars at home they were lazy and doesnt do much accept swim. Both of them are constantly staring at me(which creeps me out). I would like to know if there are any other cichlids that are really rowdy besides oscars and red devils?:88) |

After keeping them myself I think they are better described as shy. Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

Not necessarily the most aggressive, but they never cease to zip around the tank. |

Beasanchi is aggresive, he has to be kept with at least 6 females if u tend to breed them, as he would kill them if too little in numbers. There was a butterkoefi i came across once a month ago, supposdly a super mean african guy that is pretty much kept alone as he would kill anything, and has determination. |

We also have two Red Oscars and they are really temperamental. |
