Right my female has laid at least 20 eggs that I could see. He's sill eating them, so the plan is this..... set up my 32 gallon tank and put them in it with a bare bottom. I recon she lays every three weeks because it's about 3 weeks since last time.
I'll put the tank in my bedroom and that way they will get quiet. What do you think?? Do you think he will still eat them???

Sounds good Jacquie, but he still might eat them but as I have said hopefully eventually he will get it right and fertilize them rather than eat them.

Hey
Trace so they will get it right at sumpoint because the male was presaureing the female to lay the eggs so that he could at them but no other fish in the tank was even alwod near the pot or the filter ! So they were defending there ground is that a good sign anyway were putting them into 30-33gallon today so that will be okey do you think he will get it right in as the other tank maybe to crowded for them(him) to fertalize them?
Thanks Darryle

okay what u r doing is good its probably when you go to veiw the spawning he gets spooked and eats them to be safe.also tryputting a towl or peice of cloth over the tankto screen out movemnent and so he wont get spooked. feed them well and if they dont spawn soon do a small water change to stimulate the rainy season. i dont think ull have to do that though
good luck and best wishes!

At some point they will get it right but I agree with the above comment and they (he) may be getting spooked.

Let them go and let them get on with business and learn what they have to do it will come.

Jacquie,

when u bought them ..... did u buy them as a proven pair or just a male & female??? cause what i think is they have been paired up and this could be there first tiem spawnign together ........ hint: they will not get it right first time ..... could take them another 10+ trys to get it right ......... but then again it could take another 1 - 2 trys u jsut never know ..... he will figure out what he has to do with the eggs eventually

good luck
