Hello all,

I would like to know what are the most popular colours and patterns liked on an angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) among us guys on this forum.

Cheers

I like Koi angels the best.
I have 3 Angels, dad angel Sid Vicious and Daughter Rosey are Koi, mom angel Sneaky Pete is Koi X Marble.
I also like Leopards a lot. Gorgeous.

My favorites are koi & blacks. I just got some koi from AngelsPlus.com and they're gorgeous. lots of orange on them...not the small spots that you see on most. As soon as I get a chance I'll post some pics.

I'm actually not a fan of kois, as I don't like blusher spots... but give me a cold crown marble with lots of black and I'm really happy. I also think that dark silver lase with red eyes are stunning. I'm also a fan of the veil-tail angels over standards.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

I really like my Zebra Veiltail Angels. They have red eyes. The silver turns gold when they're spawning !

I'm researching another breed a friend tipped me off from, called Gold-Mirror Angels.. I couldn't find anything on the net... I'm wondering if they're Gold angels crossed with pearlscale. Hmmmm

The Amazon Nut...

Personally, I don't like the veiltails all that much. My favorite patterns are Blacks and Zebras though.

I still think the original natural colour scheme (which is becoming SO hard to find these days) utterly rocks. When I had Angels as a teenager, my spawning pair were the 'natural' colour scheme ones, and my male was awesome to behold. Just wish I'd had a camera at the time to show you all how awesome he looked ... he developed the most amazing pearlescent lavender sheen on his back when he was feeling frisky, and his finnage was beautiful to behold.

If I had to go with a purpose-selected colour variety, though, then the all-black veiltail Angels I saw back in the late 70s were again stunning, though a complete pain to maintain from the standpoint of fin damage. Show specimens of these were breathtaking, but once they'd spawned, the fins were never quite the same again - they'd pick up too much in the way of 'occupational damage' during courtship and spawning to be show standard.
