Ihave heard that adding cichlids all at once kills some aggression.and i was wondering if i should do this.its a 55 galon not cycled.i was planning on adding bio spira, seeded filter cardtridge, and fish at the same time.i was planning on having 10 yellowlabs and 5 female kenyi.i will be having extra filtration also.well should i add them all at once?

thanks

If your gonna add all the fish at once then you need to do a fishless cycle. But with those fish you could get away with adding the labs in smalls every couple weeks and then put in the kenyis. Although I think a 55g is a little small for kenyis. If you want the whole blue and yellow thing. Saulosi would be perfect. You could even then maybe add some aceis, afras, or zebras.

I think you would be better off waiting and adding them say two or three at a time. otherwise you risk loosing them.

i found that adding mine all at the same time caused a massive spike and resulted i several deaths.

just be patient and do it slow

All reports that I have read about bio spira indicate that it is safe to add fish along with the bio spira. I cant comment on the compatability of your fish though so hold off until you are sure.

I wouldn't add them all at once & as already stated, i would go with the Yellow Labs. first, but not sure about 5 Kenyi with 10 Labs. in a 55 gal. Maybe you can lower the number of fish & have 8 Labs. & 3/4 Kenyi.

I say no Kenyi's, not in a 55g.. And not in that size tank with yellow labs...
I'd also scratch zebra's as mentioned above again due to tank size and aggression...

Try Ps. Acei, Cyno. Afra's, Ps. Saulosi, Ps. Socolofi, Met. Callanios... Just a few, but their all suitable

And I'd also stay at 12 fish or fewer(8-10)
Just my thoughts.....

instead of kenyi get some P. Saulosi. They have similar colours to kenyi except it's reversed (the male saulosi are blue and the female are yellow). And they aren't as aggressive as kenyi are.
