so i'm kinda tinkering with the idea of trying out new fish... previously i've been a livebearer fan and dealt alot with mollies and platies.. now, i'm trying to ween myself off and look towards the new possibilities...

first off, are angelfish good starter fish? in the profile for them it says they're a good beginners fish, but... ive heard of people having probs with water temps and whatnot that wipe out a whole tank of angelfish...

here's what it contains..

55 Gallon:
two adult female mollies (1 dalmation 1 creamsickle)
six long-finned white skirt tetras
one dwarf marigold platy male
one common pleco
three panda cories
three clown loaches

The pleco will be given away hopefully by the end of this month.

Also the mollies and platy can be moved if needed.
The panda cories will be upgraded to at least 6 by saturday.

so... whatcha think? angelfish a good idea for me? OR am i on the edge of overstocked?

If you really want an Angelfish, buy one. It will be fine.

A 55 is a nice size tank for an Angelfish, or even a breeding pair!

The only problem I had with my Angels and livebearers was that once the Angels got big they were too scary and made the smaller fish hide a lot. My Angels were not overly fussy about anything except too strong of a filter outflow which would knock them over and it sometimes takes them a bit to get straightened out again.. LOL!

I'd say go for it....

Good luck!

AWESOME!!!

lol.... yeah i think the current issue might be a problem with mine, i not only have a double bubble curtain wand on one full half, but also a pretty hefty flow from the HOB filter.

Yes, you can add a pair of Angels.

You must remove the CL's & the Pleco in the future.

Angels are great fish, and generally not diffiuclt to care for. If you can, get ones that are fairly large, with bodies 1.5-2 inches wide. These are still juveniles, but almost ready to pair off and start breeding. If you get a pair and they are compatible, you should have no problems, and you also won't have the delicacy issues of keeping babies (which is why I lost my tankful of juvenile angels when the power went out).

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

i purchased me some angels... we'll see how my hand goes.. i've got two marbled veiled, and two that are uh.. kinda tiger striped that are black and white..

they're really small, about the size of a quarter... and they were really CHEAP! $3.99 a fish... freaking WAY cheaper than most of my fish.
