I just got a 2 silver zebra angelfish. They're both very very shy and seem to be afraid of light or somewhat nocturnal. The momment I turn off all my lights, they get out from behind a large rock they hide behind. Any ideas on how to get them used to the light? I didn't buy them for them to hide. lol. Thanks in advanced.

Maybe the light is too bright & the Angels may take time to settle.

Having floating plants like salvinia and some tall grassy plants like vals or tall crypts will probably help them feel more at home. What else is in the tank? Some dither fish like large tetras, rasboras, barbs, etc. might help, too.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

or if you want a cool effect and don't mind spending some money, invest in some moon lighting or actinic lights to come on before the real lighst do so the fish has time to adjust, they also make for good night time viewing and some people think that it is good to keep the moon's on at night because most fish we keep don't live in complete darkness at night. i plan on having this type of setup on all my tanks soon.

maybe they are having trouble aclimating to the tank, or the lighting could be to bright. with my angels the lighting is somewhat subdued and there is some floating hornwort.
