Females often swallow their eggs because they are stressed in their environment. They are also known to do this with their first couple of spawnings.
In all honesty I dont know how successful you will be breeding your blues in your tank. I had 1male and 3 females in a 6ftx2x2 and the male was such a bully! They were in with a couple of other african cichlids and this male had 3/4 of the tank to himself. In a tank the size you have the males territorial behavior can only be magnified, causing everything else in the tank a whole lot of stress IMO.

Good Luck with them.

its way oeverstocked. 6 full grown electric blues wont fit in a 3ft tank. think they aint breeding coz the tanks too small & too crowded.

Sometimes it does happen, the females just swallow the eggs. Either the female can't stand not having food or she just don't like to hold the eggs.......just keep waiting and watching...since a female has been holding eggs means your water is okay for breeding, you are almost there

You don't need to do anything for the female but to wait for 3 weeks to decide whether u want to strip the babies out or if u have a separate tank to move the female to it to let her spliting the babies out naturally.

Only feed frozen food and high quality pellets so that your fish is happy all the time !

I personally like Sera, Sera Granu Green is what I use for main daily feeding.

Most of the time why will only show territorial behaviour when there are other males to compete on breeding...otherwise they are not that bad compare to those real baddies..

Im no expert, i can't breed my'n but i think it would be good to ge 2 males and 6 females if you really want to breed them. The reason being that one male will be dominant and breed with the females while the other male will keep the dominant one on his toes(fins). This is also good because the dominant males aggression will be directed at the other male instead of the females. This has worked for me while breeding other types of cichlid but not yet for electic blues.

There will be one dominant male that will make any other males cower in a corner. I didnt mention that I originally had 2 males in my 6x2x2 and had to take one out as it was being bullied.
So I would have just one male and the rest females. The male will spend alot of time making any other male stay in hiding (which takes away energy spent on spawning)It wouldnt be a very pleasant environment for the less dominant males and it will continue until the other males are killed or removed.

Yes the male probably will breed with the other females in the tank.
Personally I have never removed the eggs from a holding female. I have, after about 3 weeks, removed the holding female to another tank where she has released the fry and left her with them for a week or so to build up strenght again. As soon as she was put back in the main tank she was harrassed by the male again.
The first time I took a female out of the main tank she swallowed her eggs. I've also seen females spit eggs early in attempt to get some food. Dont worry though, she will get the hang of holding onto her eggs
