amico![]() Hobbyist Posts: 112 Kudos: 138 Votes: 4 Registered: 05-Jan-2005 ![]() ![]() | i just gave my two convicts and my jewelle cichlid some lettuce to eat and i watched them for about 15 min and they didn't toutch it they just swam like it is a regular plant. i skipped there second feeding and gave them the lettuce about 3 hours after they would of got some pellets. how long should i leave the lettuce in and does it depend on the fish if they will eat lettuce or not |

Just make sure it is fresh & raw (I use Iceburg) also not the hard centers. If you want to persist use small amounts and no longer than one Hr. My fish attack it before It is held down. MR_CICHLID![]() Fish Addict Posts: 770 Kudos: 582 Votes: 124 Registered: 12-Aug-2003 ![]() ![]() | Personally i would avoid iceberg, as it is a head lettuce it has next to no nutritional value as the water content is so high. I'd suggest romaine, again just the leafs. maybe let it sit for 3-5 mins in a cup of tank water before feeding. This method works great for my tropheus, but as mentioned above. Not sure if the Convicts will eat lettuce. It does take some time to introduce it as a food, give them 15-20 mins to eat it, then remove it.
