I have to fish tanks in my room. a fw tank and a sw tank. They are both directly opposite of each other. I have a purple parrot (and other fish) in my fw tank. i have had the freshwater tank longer then the sw. And when ever i go over to feed or observe the sw tank the purple parrot acts well jealous. He always comes out of his hiding place and stares at me when im observing the other tank. Is it possible for fish to be jealous or even mad that he isnt getting as much attention. If it is, is it bad for my fish in anyway? I pay equal attention to both tanks through out the day so i dont know what he is complaining about. If anyone could answer that would be a great help because i am very curious.

thanks
ph

no i dont think so. often fish will retreat b/c of natural feelings and then come out after u or in the wild the threat is gone.

It is good to see some one actually looking at their tanks ans noticing actually what is happening.

I would say it could be looking for food, which do you feed first?
Some fish will stuff their stomach so full and still want more.

Have a look in [link=My Profile]http://

just to bring up a wuestion, just looking at ur profile, do u have a parrot fish in a 15 gallon tank, if u do please note that u will need a larger tank as parrots are not small cichlids.

a 55 gallon would be good for blood parrots. they can grow to around 8" and are very bulky fish so they definitely need their space as they reach adulthood.

having re-read your initial post I see that your parrot is purple. sadly I must tell you that there is a decent chance your parrot fish will not live to adulthood because it has been artificially dyed. very few dyed fish will live more than a year if they are fortunate enough to live that long.

i guess my "fruit tetras" are an exception. When I bought my first fish almost 2 years ago... i bought 6 "fruit tetras"..3 pink and 3 blue. Well obviously i wasn't aware of the dyeing of the fish...... but of the 6.... i still have two. They have been through 2 moves, and two different cases of ich...one of which all my fish died but them. I love these fish...and even though they're more white than pink.... i'm happy they were able to survive their cruel fate./:'
