![]() | need a cool fish for a 30 gallon community |
Badgers034![]() Hobbyist Posts: 59 Kudos: 23 Votes: 4 Registered: 15-Feb-2006 ![]() ![]() | This is my 30 gallon tank: 3x Platies 3x tetras from rio (they r small tetras) 2x Harlequin Rasboras 1x catfish (only about an inch) And I wanted 2 put a shark in it. I really like the Red Tailed Shark. All I want is a fish that will be territorial and add some life to my tank. But the thing I liked was how the Red tailed Shark kinda stays in a cave , then chases out anything that comes near it. I always found that pretty cool. Any other fish suggestions that will be territorial, look good , but maybe are better suited for my tank. thanks |

Harlequin rasboras will not do well with aggressive fish unless they have the safety of numbers, at least 5, more is better, I prefer odd numbers, others like even. Tetras also prefer to be in schools, you have three so they may be fine, I would feel more comfortable with 5 as well. Sharks do not like to be in pairs but a single one would be a good addition to your tank. When there is more than one (even similar species) they become more aggressive with every fish in the tank, I'd stick to a lone shark (no pun, really). I have a kribensis dwarf cichlid, she is fairly territorial, likes to chase the barbs around and will go in and out of caves. They are also very easy to take care of and have very interesting personalities, mine will eat out of my fingers, and she nips at me when my hand has been in the tank for awhile, I have decided to call this 'kissing' as it doesn't hurt and she has no fear of me. There are probably a lot of more aggressive fish you could have, I have only had experience with rainbow sharks and kribs, as far as aggression go.
