I am putting together my second 55 gallon tank tonight. In the first tank i have 3 oscars and 2 jewels and 3 plecos. They all get along great. I am trying to decide if I should stick with what works or if I should try something new. I am keeping Oscars in it, and ideas on what else would work good with them. I have had bad luck in the past with Convicts so I am little leary.

I would split that tank in half and put 1 or 2 oscar in one 55 and 1 in the other. I would also split up the jewls, becasue three oscars alone in a 55 is overstocked, not to mention the jewles and the plecs.

I have never kept oscars, but my understanding is 1 oscar will fit in a 75 gallon. I pretty sure 2-3 oscars in a 55 gallon tank is overstocked.

If your planning to put the oscars in the 55 gallon then you better plan on moving them as soon as possible. 3 Oscars in that small of a tank will likely become very territorial and create too much pollution to keep up with the tank. I would suggest some heavy filtration and twice a week cleaning if your not doing that already in order to keep up. Hopefully the tank is already pre-cycled or there is going to be lots of trouble with parameters. Also make sure that all the oscars are of course getting the same amount of food since it is likely that one of them will become the dominant one. Just know that if one does become aggressive it'll likely pummel the other ones into submission. I hope though that all goes well for you. Sorry if I'm sounding negative just don't want anything bad to happen to them. I wish you the best of luck!
