Was there a father?

I would leave them with the parents to see what happens. Otherwise, you would have to put the eggs in a container and heavily aerate it. Its really alot easier to leave the eggs with the parents, otherwise it gets alot or time consuming (picking out fungused eggs, etc).

Congrats! You can either move the fry out now, or leave them with the parents. I dont particularly know how great parents jellybeans are, but moving them to a grow out tank would always yield larger numbers. Keeping them with the parents is a whole lot easier though, but keeping them in another tank gives faster growth rates and a more controlled situation.

If you can raise them parrots have a high trade in value at shops, as opose to cons or mollies or even angels. Alot are infertile so they are hard to breed.

i was just obesrving them...earlier today..while the tank is still dark...the parents took the fry out of the cave...i guess for the fry to feed...but as the day goes by...and the tank getw a bit of lighyt...they put it back in the cave...one of the 3 parrots is agrreswsively feeding on the young....the parents r having a hard time chasing it away...just witnessed the demised of one of the fry..when it unfortunately became a fud to one. im considering setting up a net to protect the fry.

Do you have another tank you could put the fry devouring fish? A piece of perspex to divide the tank will do the trick if you dont have a spare tank.

blood parrot males are usually infertile, though you may run across the occasional fertile male. jellybean parrots are blood parrots crossed with pink convicts and were created to increase the fertility rate. therefore, it's much more common for jelly bean parrots to be fertile.

i thought that they were great parents, the fish that was takin your fry while the parents were garding them must of been pretty slick.most chiclids are great mums and dads.

i know...im impressed on the dedication of the parents...a non-stop territorial protection...just so sad, they loss all the fry..next time though..ill have a net to divide the tank for them....to avoid too much stress in the tank...just suffered 2 losses of pandas because of that episode..lesson learned!!
