I disagree with Discus being scared of other fish. Mine even fight the Rainbowfish for food. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

It is best for them to have as little competition for food as possible until they grow out to a 3 to 4 inch size. Fewer fish in the tank will also allow you to maintain great water conditions while their young immune systems are susceptible to any pathogen that is crawling around. Note that I said great not good water conditions. NO ammonia or nitrites, keep your nitrates are low as possible with daily water changes. Be sure to vacuum your tank with every water change. Start these fish on a varied diet of flake, tetrabits and frozen bloodworms. They should be fed 5 to 6 times a day in little meals. They should be accustomed to frozen brine shrimp, but their diet should include the above foods as brine shrimp have little nutritional value for their mass. After they are semi-adults, that 3 or 4 inch size, add rummynose or cardinal tetras after a four to six week quarantine for the new fish. Young fish of any variety dont need competition, espescially shy fish like Discus. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |
