Haha @ mousling. Actually, I think that the chances are leaning to female. In a spawn, the ratio of male and female would give you more females. So generally speaking, the chances of getting a female frontosa out of a male frontosa is greater. (my colony i got from random came out to be 1 male:6 females)

Is this a lone Frontosa? If so adding friends would probably see a change in character. Frontosas are not usually aggressive unless put in an environment they feel uncomfortable in.

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

i am thinking male b/c it grew faster than the other one, the other one is smaller and of a brown color, so i am guessing female.

No frontosa are brown. They are a monomorphic species. So the males and females are equally colored. You can't tell wether or not they're going to be male or femle when there that small.

You dont have a frontosa if it is brown.

kind of like that, maybe brown isn't the color to describe it.

Frontosas arent brown. Its just faded since it's stressed or uncomfortable (the one in the link is holding eggs, which would explain it's coloration). If your larger frontosa is picking on the faded one, that is the reason.

Solution : More frontosas or no frontosas.
