31G Inground Pond? | |
So_Very_Sneaky Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3238 Kudos: 2272 Votes: 201 Registered: 10-Mar-2004 | Hi All, I have recently been drooling over this new pond kit they have on sale at a local home and garden shop. It is 31G, molded flexible resin liner, with filter, media, and all tubing. Perfect size for my small yard. Do you think I could put any fish in it? I was thinking White cloud Minnows? Or maybe Dojo Loach or two? Maybe a fancy goldfish? I would want fish that co uld stay outside all year, and could get a pond thermometer to keep it from freezing. Temps get up to around 90-100F in summer, and down to 10-15 F in winter. ANy thoughts? What ki nd of plants would be good in this size pond? I have a duck statue that shoot water to bring oxygen. Okay so I have large Fancy Goldfish, not sure the type, But they adjust automatically to the changing temps. There is no filter but the goldfish eat the algae. I am assuming you will clean it yourself, I don't, So you have your options open. I do not think Clouds can be frozen over but maybe dojos. IMO I would get Goldfish because i am not sure about the others, then again Goldfis are kinda too original. Hope This Helps. PS. My Goldfish breed like mad. Chris |

While I have only researched thier aquarium behavior, IMO they need at least a 55. I think white clouds would be a better choice for that size. You may be able to fit one of the fancy species, such as a moore or pearl-scale, but again, I'd say only one. Also, in the winter around here I know that some people move thier outside fish into a temp tank inside. Inky |

So that leaves me these choices: White Cloud Minnows Dojo Loaches Rosey Reds? Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

The Cloud Minnows I get from a local source, and not one sick one yet. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |
