I bought about 12 feeder goldfish for my convicts, but they were a little to big, and two survived. They are about 6" long in a 75g. It's funny, because they live happily with the cons, without any trouble.

yes, comets do need a larger tank. Especially if there are two.

Considering that those goldfish can easily pass a foot in length, I'd say that giving them more space would be an excellent idea. Goldfish are pretty active swimmers too, and being carp they're also fairly thick-bodied.

Here is a link to some wild-caught goldfish images: http://www.carphunters.com/Foto-arkiv/Fish/Carassius_auratus.htm

I believe the world record length for a goldfish is just shy of sixteen inches, but any comet (the kind sold as feeders) can reach a foot long. They really need a tank of at least 90 gallons, because anything else just isn't enough room for them.

Your fish are stunted because they spend all their energy fighting off infections and stress due to the probably less-than-perfect conditions, when they should be using that energy to grow.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.
