	Keeping Fish In Holding Tank ~12Months
SheKoi Fish Addict Posts: 667 Kudos: 553 Votes: 4 Registered: 11-Feb-2004	Hello I'm moving house and having a house built, in the mean time i'm going to keep my 6 koi's (largest 1ft) in a holding pool on my allotment. The main problem is that there is no electric on the allotment. i've got a solar air pump and i'm intending to plant a few plants, but the koi's do damage anything i try to plant, and the pond is one depth (100cm). Since there is no filtration, You should do water changes on this holding tank like you would on an aquarium. You havent mentioned the total volume of the holding tank, but like an aquarium a change of 30% once weekly, or 50% biweekly should be enough to keep the fish happy. Even so some duckweed might be helpful to absorb excess ammonia and nitrIte. If possible I'd say moving them only a few at a time. That will let the holding pool catch up to the bioload. Water changes as was said will be absolutly necessary. Solar air pump will help, is it hooked up to filtration or oxygenation? ^_^
