i just added some new plants to the tank and i noticed one of my danios at the top of the tank. i looked closer and it looked like he had barbels coming out of his mouth. there tiny and thin and hes been at very top of tank for a while..what should i do,should i take him out and check it out?

Danios, being cyprinids, have barbels. They're perfectly normal and part of the fish's body. No need to panic. You probably didn't see them before because they're tiny, and sometimes the fish holds them close to the mouth.

Not all cyprinids have barbels. However, some of the Danio species do.

My longfin zebra danios have them. On rare occasions that they actually sit still long enough I can see them.

True, but a whole lot of them do. If she had an angelfish with barbels, I'd be a lot more concerned.
