Hi, I have a question about the RTBS. I have a 46 gallon bow front tank, containing many fish: 1 Bolivian Ram, 4 catfish, 5 Silver Tip Tetra, 4 Lemon Tetra, 3 Endler's Guppies (All male). Is it possible to put one Red Tailed Black Shark into there? I also have a couple of caves and real plants. Thanks in advance!

it should be fine, but i am not 100 % sure, as i haven't had one in many years, but i thought they are only aggressive among themselves.

ok, I am thinking about getting one tomorrow. I think that the tank is large enough, I'm just afraid that it might be too aggressive with the fish or something.

4 catfish

What type of catfish? If they are something small, then he might be aggressive, if they are something large he might be intimidated.

They are emerald cory catfish. Two of them are small, and two are large. I am not sure why this is so. I bought the large ones at a different pet store than the small ones. I think the guy who sold me the small ones might have called them dward emerald catfish.

If you do end up getting one, keep an eye on it once it gets about 4 inches long. I have a Rainbow shark in a 55G and he getting really teritoral to my other fish. I think he was the guy that killed my female Convict. Make sure you have plenty of cover for him and the other fish.

I'd be afraid he would be quite aggressive twords the cories, which by the way, are best kept in groups of six or more. I'm also slightly worried about the guppies, since they arn't exactly "tough" and could be easily killed by the RTBS, so you may want to watch out for that too. Also, you may want to consider leaving the shark out, and adding a few more tetras (also schooling fish)

Yes you can get 2 RTBS providing they are both small and have plenty of areas they can call their own. At feeding time one could be the aggressor but it is a chance you will have to take.

I personally would not try it in your small tank. As they get bigger they "can" get very aggressive towards other fish at feeding time and will chase its own kind as soon as they approach their own private space.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
