Hi,

I am getting a 12g and have been looking around for the smallest fish who dont mind a lot of light that I can find.

I was at a LFS and the owner insisted that the harlequin rasboras he had were full grown at about 2cm. All the sites I have seen have 4.5cm as an adult size. Is it possible there is a smaller variety of these? because all of the rasboras were small even those in the desplay.

I suspect these are juvaniles but just wanted to ask.

Chaos

Sounds like a bit of sales talk to me. Next time you go there ask several questions that you know the answer of, make a list if necessary, this way you will very quickly know weather it is sales talk or knowledge. If it is sales talk shop else where.

Have a look in [link=My Profile]http://

I had the understanding that a 12g would be big enough for Harlequins?

Harlequin Rasboras can reach up to 5 cm.

If yu're looking for a true 'dwarf', then the Pygmy Rasbora, Rasbora maculata, is what you're looking for. It only reaches 2.5 cm.

Ocellated Rasboras or Eye-Spot Rasboras, Rasbora dorsiocellata, also stay relatively small (about 4.5 cm), and are slender fishes into the bargain. So they'll impose less loading on the biofilter.
