I have a 10 gallon tank with a female betta and 3 albino cories. Can I add any other fish to the tank or am I stocked full?
If I can, I would like some mid-level swimmers that are not too active.

Hi there,
first I have just one thing to mention about
the Cories. Albino cories are most often either
species Corydoras Aeneus (the bronze cory), or
Corydoras Paleatus (Pepper cory). Both these Corys
are amongst the very largest of the cory species,
tipping the scales at 3-4 inches, sometimes more.
They are definitely not suitable for a 10g tank.
Also, Cories should be kept in groups of 6, rather
than 3. The 3 albino cories alone fully stock
your aquarium to the max.
You might consider rehoming the 3 albinos, and replacing
them with a school of 6 of a much smaller cory,
some that come to mind that stay 2 inches or less are:
Panda, Nanus, Hasbrosus, Pygmaeus, Trilineatus, Julli,
Ambiacus, Aggassizi. All these are smaller corys.

6 small cories and a female betta would be good,
then you could maybe add something like a pair of pencilfish, or a pair of platys, or a couple ottos,
or some shrimp or a snail or something.

I have heard that cories will do fine in groups of 3 or 4.
Another forum site (A good one at that) said that I could have the betta, 3 cories and 6 neon tetras...so I don't know what to think.

You asked "Can you" do this? The answer would be a "Yes" but it could/will also cause problems. A 10g tank can very easly be a 8-9g by the addition of the substrate and any other addition that is in the tank as it will have water displacement (takes up water space) To give you an eg my 45+ Lt was reduced to 32lt with the substrate, driftwood, and filter.
If you look at My Profile for my Betta tank I am running very close to over stock but the filter is designed for a far bigger tank plus I do a 15lt water change weekly.

Yes Cories are a schooling fish a like their own company.
I also would recommend Cardinal Tetras as they are a far stronger fish and in my opinion look a lot better especially if you have a well planted tank.

Now back to your origional question Yes it can be done but not recommended. If you want bottom cleaners try Khuli loaches mine are always visable and extremly active as far as cleaning in and around all the places most fish would not even consider getting into.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Albino cories in a 10g tank that are tiny and have
not grown in 2 years is proof that they have been Stunted.
I would not recommend keeping albino cories in any less
than a 20g tank, and even that is awful small and could
cause stunting.
Cories should be kept in groups of 6.
You cannot even imagine the difference in
behaviour until you have kept a group of 9
as opposed to a group of 3.
Much different behaviour.
