stuquarium Enthusiast Posts: 262 Kudos: 275 Votes: 0 Registered: 28-Oct-2004 | hey guys, i was hunting around my backyard this morning and i found to big logs that would be ideal for an aquarium, these logs have been out in the elements for some years now, should they be ok to use in a tank? i'm cleaning/soaking them in hot water now, will that do the trick to get all the nasties out? or will i have to do more? or just not bother as it's to risky?? |

By that I am refereing to any chemicals ever used, type of timber, even bird droppings. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. I had a tank full of all sorts of little critters and the log gave off ammonia at a rate of 2ppm per day for a 20g tank. You definitely at least have to boil or bake it. Hot water did nothing but even then there can problems. |
