4x blue ram cichlids
20x neon tetras
5x marbled hatchetfish

You said the tank is going to be well planted. What are you plans for lights, substrate, ferts, plants and such?

I've never heard of the blue neon type tetras, but if they look like neons, I'd go with 12 of each and skip the hatchets.

I think 2 big schools would look very nice in a planted tank.

Also, in a well planted tank, less fish is a much better effect.

I've heard of Cochu's blue tetra....I have recently added 4 to my 55 gallon SA type. Here's a pic of them courtesy of AZ Garden (http://www.azgardens.com/schooling_fish.php)

Mine aren't quite this blue yet, but I expect them to color up soon....I just put them in last night.

does it really matter to you what plants, lights....iam going to use?
lights: aqua-glo 18000K,40W
substarate: regular 3mm gravel and JBL ferotabs for fertilizer
i was planing on CO2 fertilization but i can not find any CO2 injection kits anywhere.im thinking about DIY CO2.
fairly hardy plants such as wisteria, amazon sword, cabomba(although i hav'nt had much luck with it, it always drops all its leaves), echindorus tenellis(how tall do they get?),cryptocorynes, nomaphila stricta and a couple of dwarf lillys.
those are the tetras iam talkin about exept the ones at the LFS where much darker and had a deeper blue colour(maybe a cross with black neons coz they lok a lot alike).
now the question is blue tetras or black phantoms, what do you think?
im leaning towards the blues i think. ditchen the hatchets to.
