Hey there everyone,

Well I'm am planning on ordering some plants from AZGardens.com and would like some input on a few things.

Was/are transactions smooth with them, like do they have unexplained hiccups or not giving you what you asked for?

Have you even had any bad experience with credit info, like they charged more money or something?

When reviewing there web site I noticed that when you put items in the cart it doesn't allow you to know shipping even if you proceed to check out. Most places have some type of area to give the general in shipping for the price range your buying in. When does it allow you to know what you complete total will be. Is it before or after you hit the finalization button?

Also from when you have ordered what was the general price for shipping you paid and was it outrageous or reasonable(being 20-50)?

Well thanks to anyone who can answer some of these questions. I'm not big on ordering online line with all the identity theft and crap people try to pull on line now a days.Considering I have no good plant stores locally that carry the same location of were the plants are from I feel I should get them online. This place has a BBB account so it already has some brownie points from me and I see its recommended a lot on here for a place to order from.

Anyways thanks to all,

Tigermom

Hi,
I've ordered from them off and on for years now and have
never had a problem of any kind.
In fact, I'm placing an order today for 80$ worth of plants.
I'm purchasing one of the "packages" and it tells me once
I click on the box that the price is $80 and $5 for
shipping for a total of $85. It also reminds me that orders
over $100 are shipped free, and that if I were to order
another $20 worth of something, that the shipping would
be free.

I've ordered from them a couple times, and have always been happy with what I got and the service and everything, no mysterious hiccups or extra charges or anything.

Hi,
Just an update. On Monday afternoon I placed an order for
the "Easy Care Package" sized for a 30 Gallon tank.
Today at 2PM they arrived FEDEX Ground.

I opened the box and - YIKES!
I could have planted a 55G tank and had plants left over!
I got:
6 - Japanese Ferns
2 - large bunches of Ambulia
15 - Dwarf Onion (15 sets of three each)
15 - Tall Sag
15 - Crypt Walkeri
4 - Java Fern
3 - Dwarf Lilly Plants
3 - Blood Stargrass
4 - bunches of Rotala Lardin
2 - bunches of Anacharis
2 - medium Ozelot Swords

Since my wife had a Drs Apt that we had to leave for at
3, I sorta just "stuffed" them here and there in the tank
with some semblence of order. When we got back, I took
this picture. I think I'm going to allow the plants a
few weeks to settle in, and then start to do something with
the layout.

Frank

Frank,

Unfortunately, they do NOT tell you how much the shipping will be before you have placed the order! The $5 is just for the box and nothing else. In fact, I was told that the cost of shipping will be determined AFTER the charges for the plants are placed on my card (immediately), while shipping charges will be determined prior to shipment.

I refused as I want to know how much I will pay when I place the order. Aquariumplants.com, from whom I have successfully ordered in the past, tell you instantaneously how much you owe. Do you happen to know the shipment charges for az gardens w/o placing an order for $100? I am really curious as they happen to carry two plants I would like to get.

Hi,
I'm sorry about whatever experience you had with AZ Gardens.
When I went to their on-line site, and ordered the package
that I said I ordered, the site immediately told me that
there would be a $5 shipping charge. Because I did not
ask for any special handling (which would have added to
the charges) their site said that I would be charged a
total of 85$, and that, is what was charged to my CC.
They DID tell me the shipping charges, and they did not
change from what I was told to what I was charged.

Congrats Frank! That IS a lot of plants! But then $80 is a lot of money too. You stuffed them into the aquarium & you think you will let them settle in for a few weeks? I didn't know you were supposed to do that? I thought you were supposed to plant them right away.

Don't you select a shipping service at the end of your order on AZ Gardens? IIRC there are different choices of services, which cost different amounts.

Wow, thanks everyone for the replies

Thats a ton of plants Frank, I might have to go with the package instead of indiviually, please post pics when you do the layout

Catdancer that is exactly the problem I had when I put the items I wanted to buy in the shopping cart. Usually you can get some type of something telling you what you will pay for shipping. There is either a chart the tells the range or the amount is on the the cart page like aquariumplants.com

I read over the site more and, it said that it charges you credit card two times. Once for the package of plants and the other for shipping. This now is the only thing holding me back from ordering, becuase the site checks out otherwise. I think my only way to get around this is just order $100 worth of plants. Im sure with shipping I'll end up paying that much anyway, so I may as well go for it.To anyone else who has ordered I would also like to know what the seperate shipping charge you incured was like with the amount of plants you purchased?

Thanks,

Tigermom

I think their web site layout and the declaration of $5 shipping charges just for the box is willfully misleading, though I have to admit that a little bit of thinking about the cost of FedEx will tell the customer that additional charges will be in tow. The nice reminder that orders exceeding $100 will be free of charge is just a way to coax the customer to buy more. I do not have enough space in my tanks for this many plants! I will give them a call on Monday and inquire about shipment charges to my location for the plants that I am interested in ordering.

Hi,
It looked like Claudia and I were butting heads,
and I've received my final paperwork on the order.
The "Easy Care Package" is listed as $80. The box
they pack it in is $5, and the shipping for that
package (Standard Overnight) came to $36.42.

So the total for the order was $121.42.

Who? Me, with you?

No no, I just expressed a certain dissapointment and caution reagrding AZ garden's practice of not providing info about actual shipping charges. I just checked my old bill from aquariumplants.com and the amount is almost the same. Now I am tempted to order some of those plants I can not find anywhere else...Say, the so-called box, were the plants well packaged? What gives me pause is the requirement to order a minimum of 10 (!) C. balansae. I wonder how small the plants are going to be.
Claudia

P.S. Tigermom, did you place an order?

No I havent had a chance to order, some time in the next two weeks to three weeks is when I plan on ordering. I have to get my new co2 system from aquariumplants.com first. If you haven't ordered by the time I do ill be sure to let you know how it goes. I also plan on getting the balansae so ill let you know how they ship and size. I must say that the 10 min. order is a little off putting for me. I plan on ordering balansae, Willisi "Lucens", Wendtii v. "Green", and Val. spiralis which all require a 10 min. Not something that im to thrilled about. All the others I want are good and have good prices.
One thing that really has me wanting to order from here is that they carry alot of plants that many other online suppliers and local for me do not have. There prices are also cheaper, something from 25 cent to a dollar+.

Ill keep you updated

Is that Mondo Grass in there? I hope they didn't rip you off by putting non-aquatic plants in the package.

Hey Frank, Glad you have had good experiences with AAG. Tank looks really nice too. Thought I would briefly post my experience, which was not so great. Bought $40 worth of plants and was charged $48 for 2nd day shipping. Shipped on a Thursday and didn't get to me until Tuesday, all the delicate plants were mush by then. NOT happy... Note: for shipping I selected the option to let them choose, you would think they would pick something that would ensure live plants on arrival...

Bought some plants from aquariumplants.com, paid $15 shipping for 2nd day, they arrived when they were supposed to and they were generous on portions. Much happier with them, and sure was nice to know what shipping was before hand.

As a side note...AZ has some really nice looking fishies I've been eyeballing. Anybody ordered fish from them? What was shipping like? I'm not going to order anything in the middle of winter of course but still curious to know.

Nice tank Frank!
You sure have enough light on that tank!
And that water looks so nice & clean!
That fascinating lily in the front is going to take over your tank, if you aren't careful! It even forms a cave! That's pretty cool.
I don't remember seeing water flow as white streaks, coming from a power filter before? Interesting. Maybe it was the setting on the camera that caught it.
Nice picture taking there. A good example of a healthy planted tank.
