Then I tried no CO2 as an experiment, and left the surface undisturbed - the tank developed BGA, bad. I cleaned the tank up, turned down the lights (its now "only" 65 watts on a 30G tank) and have opened up the venturi on the UGF pump. What you are seeing are the air bubbles being drawn into the pump and shot out the side. I'm also using AP Plant Tablets (1:5 gallons) fertilizer (also an experiment). I'm shocked by the Lillies. They sent me three and I had no idea what to do with them (as far as placement) I was in a hurry that day as I had an appointment, so I just shoved them into the gravel near the middle and forgot about them.
