You could keep an eye on them though and have a backup tank for the betta, in case there is a problem. I don't know about Swordtails, but some Platies can be aggressive towards Bettas, so you may want to keep a close eye on them too...just to be safe. Besides those 2 issues, I think it would be fine to add one. I have a male betta in my 29g community with: Neons, Glowlights, Harlequins, Cories, and Cherry Barbs and he is great! |

I would then swap the neons for Cardinal tetras. I would buy about 20 Cardinal Tetras and introduce them over a period of several weeks. The Cardinals are far hardier and in my opinion are certainly better looking. In my Betta tank there are Cardinals more info in My Profile. I also have a small SAE who does an excellent job on the algae (what there is of it) and cleans up any uneaten food. When he gets biger he will go into the 5ft tank and I will buy another small SAE Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith ![]() ![]() Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Which also happens to be the spot were I put my veggie clip. Before I head to bed I drop in a couple mini algae wafers right in front of him and he seems to like them. Also when I treat my other fish with blood worms, I have on several occasions seen him attack the block. (I use the frozen cubes of BW) I fill up a double shot glass and let the cube defrost for a few minutes the slide them into the tank and it mostly breaks up save a chunk that drops down to the bottom which is usually attacked by the Sword Tails but if there is any plant cover over it Yusuf will sneak out a grab a large bite. I don’t know if the BW are bad for him or if its unusual but he seems pretty healthy and happy. So recap Veggies Algae Wafers and BW. I had him for a Year now and he his about 2 inches long. As for activity I see him move for the BM and adjust his position slightly. I think that is mainly because my tank is very bright and I thought that I read some were that the are nocturnal which would make sense seeing as every time I come home late at night I have to play were is Yusuf hiding but come morning he is right back in his spot. Do you have any? "No whammy, No whammy, No whammy, STOP!!" 1984-Michael Larsen On Press Your Luck |

Your choice of betta will play a part in how successful it could be too. A plakat (short-finned) male would be the best choice as the long finned types would get pretty seriously munched and pushed around. |

I used to have 3 danios in my 75G, but they've been non-stop harassing the congo tetras. I remove 2 of them, but never managed to catch the 3rd one. There's a lot of high speed chasing every day. A male beta would not stand a chance to these nippers. |
