Its ok as long as the ADF 's dont kick off on territoriality. They are not a truly social animal. Sometimes they live together fine, and then one day you wake up and one is refusing to feed , or is missing a leg.I would imagine one or two would be fine in a 5 gal.

ADF's, are not especially worried about water quality, but they do have delicate breathing structures (membranes that assist with pharyngeal inspiration) that can be damaged by excess ammonia, and their permeable skins can certainly burn. I would cycle, even for ADF's .

Fine grade quartz gravel , or even regular aquarium pea gravel would be fine.Anything as long as it isnt sharp, needs frequent disturbing, or changes the KH to the degree that it would be intolerable for the guppy.ADF's arent keen on bright lights though, so a darkish gravel would be a good choice, and help make them feel secure.

Some fine grade sands and gravels need stirring up , that way they dont trap stale water, or detritus that causes ammonia spikes, hence the need to "disturb" them.

Kh (Carbonate hardness and dissolved salts). Some gravels and rocks will leach salts, minerals, and calcites into the water that can make the reading excessive to fish that enjoy "midrange" values and softer water. Usually, fish shops stock appropriate materials that help you avoid this, but some folks blow it when they add gravel not tested suitable for fish, or collect random limestones and others from their gardens etc, and drop them into tanks. You can do "vinegar" tests to help you determine the properties of some rocks.

Certain substrates, such as crushed coral, can affect both pH and hardness.

The tank will cycle whether you mean for it to or not, because the frogs produce wastes that feed the nitrifying bacteria.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

A lot of frogs wouldnt need a cycled tank , but as these are entirely aquatic its kind of important to not take risks with them , as already explained.

I just got 4 of these cute little frogs, and they're in a 5.5 gallon tank with a betta. I was lucky in that their territoriality isn't bad enough that they're damaging each other, but I did rescue one with a missing foreleg that was probably torn off by a tankmate in the store. "Stumpy" does pretty well in my tank and has been holding his own, but be aware that it's something to watch out for. My frogs will even charge the betta occasionally, which is one of the funniest things ever! I have lots of plants in my little 5 gallon, whic breaks up territories and gives each frog a place to hang out where he won't be bothered by the others. They all get super excited at feeding time, though, and this is the only time I see any aggression at all before they go back to minding their own business.

Do you plan to have a filter on your little tank? I have a hagen stingray filter on mine, and I've been very happy so far. Also, a small 25 watt heater is a good idea, as they will not respond favorably to large fluctuations in temperature.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...
