i have around a bag of about 2 lbs of these(no sure why they are here but) besides my otto tank, i have a tank of pretty much livebearers(guppies, vartius and 4 cherry barbs) would it be a good idea to give them half of one wafer at night so if they get hungry later during the night/next day they will have something to eat.

Leaving them that long in the tank could make your water go cloudy.

On the packet of my Hikari Wafers it says to remove all uneaten portions after 2 hours.

Those who say they cant, Never will !!!

I would not be using them at all. I think you will find the Ottos will be happier eating their natural food (Algae) that grows naturally in the tank. I use 4 algae wafers in my 5ft tank evey morning, but there are no Ottos in that tank and the wafers are all gone within 30 minutes. I have Ottos in my Betta tank I tried the Algae wafers once and they never touched it.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

I put one wafer every sunday in my live bearer tank(guppies and mollies) and they accept it readily. I dont feed them any other food that day. Im using the Hikari wafers and they dont pollute water if they are consumed within an hour.
Dropping these wafers at night might be a good idea only if there are catfish/plecos in the tank.

I use them in the convict tank for a BN and a Clown pleco. It seem that 90% of the time the convicts eat them before the plecos can come out to get them. Never had them cloud the water.

I agree, only dump them in at night if you have nocturnal fish that'll munch 'em. Other than that, your fish will like them in the daytime
