| Angels with cardinals? | |
never say die![]() Hobbyist Posts: 85 Kudos: 58 Votes: 1 Registered: 18-Jul-2004 ![]() | ive kept 4 angels with 4 cardinals in my 60g, the angels were full grown and the cards wernt, the cards just swam right by them. in your tank i would not advise 2 angels as they get pretty tall i would say bolivian rams or apistos. i also like the gourami idea. |

I was thinking a pearl gourami, but hoping for something a little more unusual looking maybe? I have 6 cards, 6 harlequin rasboras, 6 corys, and 2 male swordail fry smaller than the cards if I did add an angel then i would have taken out the swordtails but i like the color of the cards too much to switch them out... the swordtails dont necesarily have to stay until maturity... |

They tossed a couple small feeder goldfish in, they were small but bigger than a Card. One of the Adgels in the tank nabbed one of the goldfish. It didn't manage to swallow it but it wasn't for lack of trying. It had the goldfish by the head shaking it, I think to try to get it lined up a little better for swallowing. The Angel finally gave up but by that time the goldfish was either completely stunned or dead, I don't know which because a Pike nabbed it. The Angel was about 2 inches in body size. Once the Angels grow, the Cards are fish poop. It's a fish eat fish world in there, Mike |

In my opinion, Cardinal Tetras look almost exactly the same. I thought neons would be ok with my angel, she is only around 3 inch in diameter, shes not very big yet. I bought 11 neon tetras and 3 hours later removed 7. After watching my angel murder those neons, I would never add them again. I would avoid adding angels with cardinals. They would be extremely tasty, and look just like Angels natural prey. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

Especially if you have the Cardinals in there as well. As the Angles get bigger so does their mouths. I would say rather expensive food for the Angles. If you end up with a breeding pair you will need to be careful if you have anything else in with them. The may harass and kill other fish, some pairs get pretty cranky. I had one pair kill a Ram but I've got a few guppies in with a different pair. It all depends on the individual fish. As for Cardinals, I think they would end up as a healthy high protien snack. Maybe not right away but once the Angels grew to full size. Good luck, Mike. |
