I subscribe to TFH, and it is the only magazine I've really had an interest in. I didn't care for the other ones I've flipped through. However, if there was a magazine geared towards more advanced fishkeeping stuff I would have to at least try it.

Don't have a subscription at the moment (I tend to buy off the shelf when I do buy mags) but we have quite a choice in the UK. We have TFH of course (which is international, and has a large UK subsidiary permanently based here) and two resident UK mags, Practical Fishkeeping and Today's Fishkeeper. There may be more of course, but these are the ones that usually feature in big chain newsagents such as W.H. Smiths and John Menzies, and of course Practical Fishkeeping has a LARGE website (you have to register, but registration is free, and comes with occasional goodies - such as the time I got a big can of fish food free from them!).

More obscure here in the UK, but I gather it's more prominent in Germany, is Tetra's Aquarium Digest International, which sometimes features interesting articles in considerable scientific depth.

Among the German publications which have international standing, DATZ is of course the most prominent, being the originator of L-numbers for Loricariids. I believe it's also published in an English language version, which makes life easy for those who don't speak German.

The UK mags cover some surprising topics in depth too - Today's Fishkeeper has managed to feature articles on rare Central American Cichlids by Juan Miguel Artigas Azas, coral cultivation and dealing withj Aiptasia anemones by Anthony Calfo for the marine readers, and seems to attract some well-informed Discus commentary too, while Practical Fishkeeping, by way of contrast, seems to obtain first call on African Cichlid specialists and managed to bring in Mike Paletta to write intermittently for the marine fishkeepers. Both the main UK mags seem to have mastered the art of providing excellent illustrative cover without letting the pretty pictures overwhelm the textual content - some of which is seriously in-depth at times. PF in particular has a habit of being the first to report the latest breaking developments on the taxonomic front, and was first to the post with the recent upheavals in Discus taxonomy.

Oh, by the way, the PF website features some fairly strange fishes among the more familiar ones - including a piece on the Helicopter Catfish, Wallago attu, along with the advice to steer well clear of this fish unless you have a huge amount of capital available to build the monster aquarium this fish needs ...

I used to get a few different ones, but I don't really anymore because they don't seem advanced enough for me (i.e. most of the topics they cover are only useful for beginning aquarists).

Practical Fishkeeping has some good information on their website (of which I am a member), but I don't know if I can get the magazine over here or even if the magazine's content is as good as the website's.

... or even if the magazine's content is as good as the website's.

If the back numbers I have before me are anything to go by, I'd say yes. Their piece on vegetable filters a while back (2003 or thereabouts) is a classic example.

Plus, their Interesting Imports section turns up some very bizarre fishes indeed.

Bear in mind that their oddball expert is Richard Hardwick, possibly one of the best names in the oddball fish business. He's also a regular acquaintance of another oddball specialist, Sean Evans, whom I wrote about here some time back (including his collection of rare Bichirs).

Plus, the magazine seems to persuade the likes of Juan Miguel Artigas Azas to write for it periodically. Not an individual who writes 'lightweight' pieces by any stretch of the imagination.

I believe we can get Practical Fishkeeping here in the states, but it's awfully expensive. If I remember correctly the last time I checked, it was well of $100 per year to do so. That's an awful lot for a magazine subscription.

I do subscribe to both TFH & Aquarium Magazine, but I like TFH the better of the two. I have quite a collection of back issues of TFH with many dating back into the 1950's.

Yeah, that does seem a bit expensive. Especially considering that advertisments in the mag pay for most of the content, subscriptios usually just cover the mailing fees, for many mags and papers anyways.

I subscribe to TFH, Freshwater and Marine Aquarium(FAMA) and Aquarium fish mag, which is actually Aquarium Fish International now.
My favorite is definitely TFH for many reasons. The magazine is binded with glue, rather than staples, which allows the pages to actually stay in tact. Beautiful photos and with high quality. My favorite coloumn is about the nature aquarium by Takashi Amano.
The other 2 mags still have value to them. I read all three each month and find out many new things. Of course i have only been in the hobby for 4 years now. I just cant wait till i can study Fishery Science next year. This will give alot of info.
