Hi
I have a axolotal that I've had for 2 years now.
He lives in a 2 foot tank and is hand fed every day.
I'm just wondering if other people could tell me how big their axolotal has grown. Mine is about 26 cm long. I'm wondering if they get much bigger?
Thanks in advance,
BubbleLover

I looked after one at college that must have been over a foot long, but mine never got that big. He was one of the huge black ones, he wasnt even that old. I think the students totally overfed him on beefheart with steroids in .

Hi Longhairedgit
Beefheart is what I feed mine (oh his name is Tweedle) minus the steroids of course. Oh well I guess if he does keep growing I'll have to pull out the 3 foot tank in the shed!
Thanks for your comment

Thats actually quite a big axo for that size tank, you could go a couple of feet longer for a completely happy axolotl, when they get truly mature they can have quite an impressive mass, and they need the oxygen and the water body and filtration to cope with their rather large (but eminently removable) poo. Its one of those things with axo's...

fine, fine, fine, aargh! 3 day fungal infection, dead.

Keep em in a big tank and nice clean water and they live for ages.
