It is merely a fish that has been given a common name to try to sell it. It is freshwater and comes from Africa; it would not survive very long in saltwater. These are actually fish from the family Mormyridae, a group of fish that can produce electricity. They can be hard to get to feed as they may not respond to processed foods immediately, preferring live foods. Mormyrids are not the best beginner fish as they are a tad more delicate than many fish that can be found at the LFS, however they do make to be interesting fish. Next, this fish gets about 5" long. It doesn't get anywhere near the size of a whale, but still a 15 gallon is probably too small. On top of this, some sources say that the Baby Whale likes to swim in groups; this mandates a larger aquarium as you not only keep more, but keep more in an aquarium where their electric impulses do not interfere with each other too much. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

Thats a tricky home aquarium project by any standard |
