Im going to side with everyone against what you did, it should never had happened. Listen to advice given on these boards, people know what they are talking about. BTW I am unsure of what a CIA is, i cant think of anything.

i entirely agree with you, sin and lindy!

I suppose the only positive thing that can be said about your management of the entire situation is at least you didnt flush the live fish.

A dog, once it has the taste for blood, cannot be trusted.. Fish are the same way, it would start attacking his fish.

and I find this statement complete bull. Animals react as necessary to their environments.

I like to think that whoever designed marine life was thinking of it as basically an entertainment medium. That would explain some of the things down there, some of the unearthly biological contraptions

I've gotta say I'm moderatley disgusted by this. A fish shouldn't have to die just because you are to stubborn & pig-headed to take advice when it's offered to you.
As for your comment "There was no other way unfortunately." ...re-house it, return it to your LFS, private sale in a classifieds, give it away... pick one!

I have to disagree with Lindy on one thing though, you don't deserve the amount of frustration it put you through... that's not NEARLY enough! ]:|

That fish could of been caught and taken to a lfs or rehoused but rather you "knocked it out and fed it to your oscar"
I dont care how nasty a fish is. If you've taken the risk of putting it in your tank with fish that it may harm, probably in a tank too small for it then you failed as a fishkeeper. Its not the fishes fault that its temperament was a bad one. Its also not the fishes fault that you didnt listen to warnings from others about the fish.

As far as i'm concerned you deserved every ounce of fustration you had to go through to catch it.

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I was going to give it to my stepdad for his tank (until I caught it attacking my gourami) A dog, once it has the taste for blood, cannot be trusted.. Fish are the same way, it would start attacking his fish. There was no other way unfortunately.

I don't think your lack of foresight merits the CIA's death, but that's just my opinion.

Great advice from both of you thanks.

I tried food in net.. All my nets are green except the small one used in the fry tank.. I caught him about an hour after the last post. Then I knocked him out and fed him to my oscar. Now I have to try and heal my gold gourami, she's not lookin good at all. There's an underdose of fungus med in the tank with a full dose of melafix. The tanks stock full of plants so I can't full dose meds and there's a small clown loach to think about.
The CAE got the other clown sick. So the CAE took out 2 guppys, a clown loach and now maybe my gold gourami. I thought I stressed the clown during a large water change but now I know.

I should have listened to Cory Addict and SunflowerGrl Tsu a long time ago, they warned CIA's might turn nasty and it just happened practically overnight and caught me by surprise.. That's what I get for being stupid. ]

persistance and patience is the key.

Tips: Use a green net, and try and sneak up behind him, but go very slowly. The shock waves made in front of the net caused by the net registeres in their lateral line, and warns them to move. If you go slowly, they wont' register it and you can get them more easily. Plus a green net is harder for them to see, and they may run into it if they try and flee the scene.

Have you tried putting his favorite food in the net and lure him in?
