I bought a container of TetraColor tropical flakes, designed to enhance the coloration of tropical fish. I have been feeding my fish with it this week and I swear I've noticed a striking difference in the vivid-ness of the colors of my fish, especially the tetras and Tiger Barbs.

Is this just the placebo effect, my mind playing tricks on me? Or could it be that this product really delivers more vivid color? I have worked these flakes into the rotation between freezedried krill, algae wafers, bloodworms and regular flakes.

Possibly not any good food variety and a healthy tank will naturally increase the look of any fish. It possibly has some good ingredients that the fish like and is good for them.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info

Sounds like you have a good variety of foodstuff going in and this will naturally increase colour and vitality of the inhabitants. When I first started out (some 12 years now) all I gave was flake. After a few years, I was introduced to live foods and I noticed how different everything seemed. Now I use a mixture of granules, tablets, fresh vegetables and frozen bllodwoom/mysis/krill/brineshrimp - would never use one independently again, the extra cash is ultimately worth it, without question.

Do they contain astaxanthin?

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett
