Coralife 20W Bulb? | |
stephane Fingerling Posts: 37 Kudos: 32 Votes: 3 Registered: 05-Jan-2005 | hello, i am currently settign up a 5.5g that will be very heavily planted. i will be using compact florescent bulb that you are suppose to use iwht normal incandescent hoods. I was wondering if using two 20w coralife colour max compact bulbs would be to much lighting? Also, are the 20w colour max bulbs the right spectrum for freshwater aquatic plants? One more question, is the bulb the normal whitish colour? or does it give of a pinkish light? because on the box, it shows that the actual bulb is kind of pink. Thank you in advance for your time -Stephane |

You'll want to get the regular white bulbs instead, which mimic natural sunlight and therefore are more suited for growing plants. I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

If not, then your store will most definitely be able to order one for you. I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

Get two of those and your tank will be set. They will look much better than one of those twenty-watt Color Max bulbs (two of those would be overkill). Here are some I found on Amazon.com for cheaper than in most retail stores. If you buy like four of them it should make the price of shipping worth it: http://www.amazon.com/Mini-Compact-Aquatic-Bulb/dp/B0002DJK6U/sr=1-1/qid=1156579059/ref=sr_1_1/104-1541749-5050327?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden BTW Tim: You spelled my name wrong. Just be sure to purchase one that is labeled DAYLIGHT or SUNLIGHT. Do not purchase one that has Warm or Cool in it's name. The DAYLIGHT/SUNLIGHT bulbs are all rated at about 6700K which is perfect for plants, and viewing the fish. The Warm/Cool labeled bulbs are for reading and are not the optimum for plants. You might want email the website and ask if they are rated at around 6500-6700ºK. I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |
