Disappearing Fish... | |
EvilE Fingerling Posts: 17 Kudos: 7 Votes: 0 Registered: 09-Dec-2007 | I have had a couple neon tetras, and a cardinal vanish. My small pleco is also not anywhere. I have a peaceful mixed community, so I know none of the others would have eaten them. I have noticed the ammonia is a bit high, so I have been doing nightly 10% water changes---what besides tearing the tank apart and doing deep vaccuuming should I do, or just leave it be? |

This might have even caused the ammonia to rise as well. Keep doing the vacs but I would change about 25% of the water every 2nd or 3rd day, also add some Melafix to help destress the fish. Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info Look here for my Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tank Photos Keith Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Dead fish stuck inside the filter could be causing your ammonia spike as well. Look in your plants and decorations - surprising where fish can get stuck... |

Fish can be pretty quick with that, actually, so your fish may have died and then the other fish went in to eat the body. -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |
