[font color="#000080"]Hi all!!!
I have a feeding question.
I'm currently feeding my fish with frozen blood worm only.
They all seem to love it. But if I feed the only blood worm,
will they eventually get bored of it?
I assume it won't do my fish any damage if i only feed them blood worm.
Right?
What do you feed your fish?

It probably won't hurt them and they shouldn't get bored with it. I might throw in a brine shrimp cube or some flakes once in awhile as a treat, but if it's working for you, then I wouldn't mess with the system too much...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

That will be fine for them, and since they recognise it as a food source, they won't get board of it. As a suggestion, i would add a little variety to their diet as iltat said. I have also heard bloodworms can sometimes carry disease, so you may want to check up on that if you wish.

Would you not get tired of eating the one meal all the time? Over the long term it could do harm as they would misout on other food nutritrional benefits.

I feed three different types of sinking pelllets, flake food and, a larger plant pellets. They also get the frozen blood worms three times a week. Furthermore many different types of foods, vegs, fruit, fresh SW fish frames, and raw lambs liver.

Keith, just because YOU don't like having the same meal every day doesn't mean your fish will have a problem with it.

Now i am not arguing it is bad to vary a fish's diet, I'm just saying for the reason you say it is not good. It is good to vary a fish's diet to give them the right nutriets from different foods that staple diets can't give.

Overall, keith is right

[font color="#000080"]ok, i'll try to vary their diet a bit
like frozen blood worm on S,M,W,F and flakes on T,TH,SA.
i used to feed them only flakes, then they started to ignore their food,
that's why i got them blood worms, and now they are addicted to blood worms
never seen my fish fight for food before.

As you can see I have three different pellet foods as well.
I rotate it all the time.

It basically works like this
Mon Pellet1 & Plant Pellets (PP)& Flakes (F)
Tue P2 & PP & F
Wed frozen worms (FW) & PP
Thur P3 & PP & F
Fri P1 & F
Sat FW & PP
Water change no food that day.

Contact me if you require any further info

During the week a mix of various foods as extras

I also think that the fish would be lacking some nutritional value if all they received was one type of food.

I alternate feedings between:

Frozen bloodworms
Frozen brine shrimp
Frozen mysis shrimp
Frozen veggie cube ( spinach,etc)
Omega One Freshwater Flake, veggie rounds & Shrimp pellets
HBH crab bites ( for shrimp and snails)
Fresh Zuchinni squash & cucumber
Aquadine pro flakes ( because they sink)

You also have to consider the type of fish you have when determining your foods. Couple examples: If you have tiger barbs, they go crazy for the tubiflex worm cubes that stick to the side of the tank. I have a community tank with corys. For the corys, I throw in 3 sinking wafers daily for them to munch on, as well as the occasional cucumber treat For everyone else, I alternate between a mixture of: pellets, dried bloodworms and flakes, and frozen brine shrimp. They also peck at the cucumber when the corys aren't looking

They probaly won't get sick of it, but a varried diet is best. I feed my community frzoen blood worms, frozen brine shrimp, frozen msquito larva, and flakes every week, this ensures healthy fish.

Feeding such a high-protein diet may give you more ammonia than a more varied diet... if I can adapt what I've learned in my animal sciences class on nutrition.

Otherwise, you may miss some good nutrients you could gain from either a manufactured staple food or a more varied diet. It's not usually such a problem with interest as it is with humans in that they might get sick of it, but poor nutrition will not bring out the best colors, behaviour, or breeding (if you breed your fish) in your fish. Same goes for any animal.

As my animal sciences professor pointed out, eating stable dog food might be good for most of us people, but we'd probably end up killing ourselves because we like to have the variety.
