if you plan on breeding guppies, you might want to think about another tank for the frys so the parents don't eat them. Also you might want to add some plants near the top of the water so the frys can hide till you can remove them. if the parents are well feed they will be less likely to eat the frys, and becareful vaccuming because frys will hide in the gravel (i know from experence). also I agree with taking the cory back, keep guppies in 1male/2female ratio, and good luck
hope this helps

Ok, thanks ya`ll!
Its been alone all its life (atleast all of its life away from the fish store.)The people I got it from didnt know anything about fish either so it was alone. Would it adapt to new fish of its own kind? I found out that they got it from wal-mart when they used to sell them.

That would be a Corydoras agassizii.

Nope...

It's Corydoras leucomelas, also known as the the Blackfin Cory. It will grow to about 2" long, and although one will be okay in a 5 gallon, it really should be kept in a group in a larger tank.

Or should I just get the females and the new male at the same time or what? And I havent started breeding yet and I dont plan to do so until I move.

BTW: If you can post a picture of the mystery cory you have, I will probably be able to identify it for you.

Cories need a larger tank and groups of 6 or more as they are a shoaling fish. So take back the cories and get 1 more guppy.

Corys will eat the newborn guppy fry, so If you are planning on breeding it would be best to give them back to your LFS. They get too large for a five gallon anyway.

I would recommend only having three guppies in there, preferably one male and two females. That is the best ratio if you plan to breed.

No. I don't think you're overstocked. No female guppies, so no worry of hundreds of babies.
