my smaller jaradini arowana is around 5 inches and i have had him for (less than 6 months) when i got him he was (around 4 inches) and this is concerning me as from what i know arowanas grow alot in a fast time during their first year. My silver arowana(bought at the same time, different tank) has grown to around 7 inches and like my jaradini is fed on the same scheule and food(the only other factor is sometimes he eats tetra min color bits)(and i guess "sitmulation" he is in with large parrots)

well my jaradini is in a 75 gallon tank for now with a (feather fin snyo). with an ehiem pro 2 filteration.

he is fed a diet of solo frozen blood worms.

um... i have no real clue on why he isn't growing.

also my larger jaradini arowana(got him around 2 months ago) has grown to around 7 inches since coming here, and is fed on the same diet of blood worms.

is your smaller jardini eating normally?
is he in the same tank as your large fish?

well even if your fish are growing, it would be nice to have a variety in the diet anyway
i feed mine jardini frozen beef heart, frozen community dinner with added vegies and sometimes spirulina.
i know, he's getting spoilt with all the frozen food.

what about tank parameter, temp, pH, nitrate, ammonia etc
try to keep nitrate as low as possible, i use denitrification by anaerobic bacteria, nitrate is less than 10ppm all the time

good luck, keep posted

i ocassionally feed him some livebearers i have, just as a treat

i made it a personal policy not to feed live foods, as it is alittle to risky, you know.

my little jaradini is in the tank by himeself, and the feather fin syno.

my larger jaradini is also by himself, and the silver is in another tank with parrots.

anyway... the only problem i have ran into is he is spoiled. and wont take in pellets etc... like my larger jaradini will.

he does eat normally, he does wait when the lid is up, and than when it touches the water he will attack it and eat the chuck whole, well hold it in his mouth anyway.

ph-7.9-8.2
ammonia-acording to my test, says around .25

again this tank is being around for about 6 years and is stable.

another thinng: my smaller jaradini looks different than my larger one. the smaller one has a different color. very dark, almost grey with fewer larger scales than my larger jaradini. and it is way more aggressive.

I guess you already know, but your ammonia should be zero, not .25, especially if it has been established for a long period of time.

On the food subject, dont feed the fussy one for a few days, then offer it a couple of pellets. If it doesnt eat them then wait another couple of days. Eventually he will be hungry enough to eat anything you offer. Blood worms should be used as a treat only, not a main part of the diet.

some scale/body damage, and a cut on the mouth.

he seems to be ok, but very sad.... stupid mistake.

Try some Seachem GarlicGuard
not that I've used it before, it's supposed to enhance flavour of food and helps fish that are picky
also contains vitamine and antioxidant supplement

Seachem is a trustworthy brand, I would give it a try.
Good luck

who got attacked between the jardini and devils?
poor fish.....my jardini is really aggresive, bit me the other day.
ok my fault, shouldn't have teased him with food
