It's a Sad, Sad Day | |

He had been acting a little tired the past couple of days but seeing as how he had just gotten rid of a bad case of ich I figured it was normal. Plus he was getting his color back. I thought all was well. But yesterday feeling that all was not right in the tank of the fishies, I decided to check the WP's including GH something I normaly don't do, considering our water comes out pretty constant. ph 7.0(normal),ammonia 0ppm(normal), Nitrate 0ppm(again normal),GH... OFF THE FREAKIN' CHARTS!!! I couldn't even measure it, it was so high. (My test goes up to 400 ppm) WHAAA?! So I checked the water off both our systems and again they were both off the charts. This isn't normal, our water stays at around O-50 ppm. Again, WHAAA?! I asked mom "What Gives"? She goes "Oh, I must need to add more salt to our system" (Plus we are currently in a long drought things tend to get more concentrated, something I didn't think of till now) So I figured this is what happened, the fish got the ich, I added 1/8 tsp (Rid Ich/Quick Cure) 3 times a day. Every 3 days I would replace 20% of the water in the tank with new water not realizing that the new water was bad water. I wanted to go to the store yesterday to get something to neutralise it but I did the tests late in the day and it was too late to go out, the store would already be closed. So I was planning on going this morning but I was too late. As some of you know I was planning on getting a 75g tank but I was doing it for the benefit of Ling... with him gone I'll just get a 55g. I plan on getting the same fish, just without the clowns. Owner of 20g with 7 diamond tetras, 1 mosquito eater,& 1 lyretail molly. |

Sad that you had to learn about problems with water conditions 'tap derived' this way. Are you sure that you want to downgrade to 55G now? You might regret later on. |

Just because she died, that dosent mean that You have to downgrade. Now if you wanted to save money, im sure that would make it feasable, but IMO if you were planning on getting it anyway, and were planning to spend the money for it, then i think you should just stick with the plan and then maybe you can have more CLs again! ><> ~=!Vote Today!=~ <>< -----> View My Dragons <----- |
