Well, I want to try a live food, since many species require them, and just about all of them prefer them. I have an empty 10 gal that I can use for culturing. I wanted to know the easiest live food that requires the least maintience, and has a high yeild, that also has a low chance of parasites, and won't gross me out(rotifers.. ewww). Any help is greatly appreciated,
Sundewd

What kind of fish do you have? The type of fish could effect what type of live food to try to grow. I've raised snails, brine shrimp and ghost shrimp. Ghosts and snails are the easiest of the three. Brine shrimp aren't that hard, but I've never tried to raise them past the baby stage, they've always been baby fish food

what size live foods are you contemplating for what sized fish? depending on your needs, a 10gal would make an excellent live fry tank. brine shrimp in that sized tank is probably overkill, but the ghost shrimp would be okay.

I vote for red worms, go to http://www.wormman.com/redworms.htm for details. You can keep the 10 gallon as a quarantine tank!

If you have puffers and/or loaches, you could raise snails in there. If you have fish that would eat ghost shrimp, you can raise shrimp in there. If you wanted to, you could do both!

There are a couple questions for you already, Sundewd, but I'm curious about where you live in the US. If it's still warm, all you need to do is to set out some still water and wait for flies to lay their eggs in it.
