I was looking for an alternative for microworms, my mom wont let me culture them (paranoid). I was looking forr something healthy for fry and was going to try live food.

Help would be appreciated. Thanks!

brine shrimp are good, and the eggs and hatchery is commonly found in stores.

Heh, Mothers...
Microworms are really really easy to culture, and they don't go anywhere, so I don't see the problem, but then, my mother would probably have issues with my breeding little maggots on mushy oatmeal in her house, too.

Looks like your best alternative is Brine shrimp. They require a bit more work, but that can also mean that they're more fun! You can pick up kits that include everything you need except an air pump and a empty, cleam soda bottle. You can tell your mom you're raising sea monkeys.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

There is a really good thread on this forum regarding hatching bbs

i found the easiest way was to clean a 2 litre soft drink bottle and cut the bottom end off. i then got a sturdy plastic cup and placed the bottle cap side down into the cup.
I then got a pump, airstone and tubing, connected it all up (and one-way gang valve!) and just hung the airstone over the side into the bottle.
Add water (i added approx 1.5 litres) and added 1 tablespoon of rock salt to this (im not sure on proper amounts but this seemed to work just fine) and then added a tip of a teaspoon of bbs eggs. Wait around 24 hours and you'll see them swimming around.
Dont forget some light for them either!

of course this is just a really basic setup but it worked well for me!

Truth doesn't always win friends but it influences them

Thank you for the comment, i will still have to try to convince her that they are harmless.

I will go to my LFS and get the stuff and hatch some.
Thanks for the help!

How about Vinegar eels?

Or will mom not let any creepy crawlies in the house?
